Wagle Visits Southern Border

“President Trump is absolutely correct, we have a crisis at our southern border!” – Susan Wagle

WICHITA – Republican candidate for United States Senate and Kansas State Senate President Susan Wagle (R-KS) was hosted by State Representative Phil King (R-TX) and joined the Texas National Guard and the Texas Department of Public Safety on a visit to review the crisis at the United States’ southern border with Mexico.

Susan Wagle said: “President Trump is absolutely correct, we have a crisis at our southern border.  We are a country of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws, and those laws need to be enforced if we hope to be a secure, sovereign nation.”

“The United States Congress has completely failed the American people by not having a serious debate on the crisis at our border.  The heroin epidemic that is killing our neighbors, the sex trafficking that has relegated young girls to modern day slavery, and the security threats that touch each of our communities need to stop.  It is the Federal government’s job to build the wall on our border and I am committed to going to Washington to get the job done for Kansas families,” continued Wagle.

“Not only do we have a security crisis at the border, but we have a true humanitarian crisis. After visiting the border, traveling the Rio Grande, and seeing ICE facilities, I am more appalled than ever that congressional Democrats held up crucial funding to address what we are seeing at our border.  Turning a blind eye to the need to effectively enforcing our laws, in the name of political posturing, only jeopardizes lives,” concluded Wagle.

On the trip, Wagle visited ICE detention facilities, as well as toured the Rio Grande River and key points along the U.S.-Mexico border.
