Wagle Condemns Schumer's Dangerous Rhetoric Toward Supreme Court Justices

Calls On Bollier To Denounce Threats Toward Government Officials

WICHITA, KS – Kansas state Senate President and conservative candidate for U.S. Senate Susan Wagle (R-KS) issued the following statement denouncing Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's (D-NY) dangerous rhetoric threatening Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch as they hear arguments regarding Louisiana's law ensuring women have access to healthcare providers who have admitting privileges to local hospitals.

Susan Wagle said: "I am appalled Minority Leader Schumer would threaten two Supreme Court Justices as they hear an important case on abortion and women's healthcare. His thuggish rhetoric may play well on the liberal streets of New York City, but his threats have no place on the steps of our nation's highest court. I'll stand up to Senator Schumer and defend the unborn, no matter his threats, and I call on Senator Bollier to join me in denouncing this dangerous rhetoric."

This afternoon, Senator Minority Leader Schumer said: "I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price.  You won't know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions."

In a rare denunciation of the legislative branch, Chief Justice John Roberts defended his colleagues by saying: "Justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous. All Members of the Court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter."

As of time of release, Senator Schumer has refused to apologize.
